An original mystery series titled Poker Face is in development for Peacock. It will be directed by Rian Johnson and star Natasha Lyonne.
A new mystery-drama show titled Poker Face, directed by Rian Johnson and starring Natasha Lyonne, is officially in development at Peacock. Johnson is best known for his recent credits as writer and director of Knives Out and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. However, Poker Face will be the first television project that Johnson has written.
According to Variety, Poker Face has Lyonne working both in front of the camera and off-screen, as she will be executive producing the series in addition to playing the not-yet-named starring role. Johnson is also taking on multiple tasks as writer, director, and executive producer of the series. Though the premise of the show is yet to be fully revealed, Peacock users can prepare for a thrilling, “edge-of-your-seat” mystery.
The highly-qualified duo will make a great pair given their experience. Both Lyonne and Johnson have had a successful past few years; Johnson received a nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Knives Out at the 2020 Academy Awards, a film that hit $300 million at the worldwide box office. In 2019, Lyonne, who is the star and executive producer of the Netflix series Russian Doll, earned a total of 13 Emmy Award Nominations for the show, including Outstanding Actress in a Comedy.
Poker Face will run for 10 one-hour-long episodes on Peacock and has been described by Johnson as a “fun, character-driven, case-of-the-week mystery.” With the combined genius’ of Lyonne’s acting and Johnson’s quality storytelling, the series is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
